Tüf Konak is a 16-room guesthouse run by the Karaca family, combining a Greek stone mansion with seven rock-cut caves.
Tüf Konak was built in 1887 on the Esbelli slope of Ürgüp by a Greek merchant family. Seven caves carved into the rock behind it served as pantry, wine cellar, dovecote and stable.
We, the Karaca family, bought the ruined mansion in 2009 and restored it over six years with the approval of the regional conservation board, keeping the original stone, timber and tuff.
Since 2015 we welcome guests in 16 rooms of seven different types. Our breakfast comes from nearby village producers, our kilims from Ürgüp weavers and our pottery from Avanos masters. We do not want to be a big hotel — we want you to feel like a guest in a Cappadocian home.
